The Beautiful Project is a Durham-based arts collective dedicated to empowering Black women, girls and gender expansive youth through storytelling and visual arts. Founded in 2004, the organization fosters sisterhood and self-expression among its members.
I began my journey with The Beautiful Project by updating the graphics and establishing a visual identity for their journal publication. I later designed graphics for the Pen, Lens, and Soul exhibit at The Metropolitan Museum of Art and participated as an artist in the Memory is Ritual exhibit at NCMA in Raleigh, where my self-portrait was featured.
Beyond these roles, I led a comprehensive brand refresh, including a new visual identity, redesigned website, and the creation of promotional materials such as banners and merchandise to strengthen the project’s public presence.
